The JX / VCPX Cement Hopper - Prototype Information

The JX Cement hopper wagon was built between 1963 and 1982 at both Newport and Ballarat Workshops, with the class totaling 158 wagons.

The JX / VCPX wagons carried cement from Warun Ponds near Geelong to various points around Victoria.

A number of VCPXs were also gauge converted and used on Standard Gauge to carry cement to Canberra for construction of the new Parliament House.

Pacific National has also now refurbished, repainted and gauge converted a number of VPCXs for use in New South Wales, with a small number also being refurbished and repainted for use within the Victorian broad gauge network.
