Austrains Basix - Four Wheel Oil Tankers

We now have full stocks of four wheel Oil Tankers. Five different packs containing three wagons each are being offered covering assorted oil company names of the 1950’s thru to the 1970’s.
Pack one will contain one each wagon in Black, Silver and Yellow but undecorated. The wagon packs of three will be $99.00. < link to photos >
Those with even the slightest knowledge of Oil Tankers will know that we have entered a minefield here and no matter what we do it is impossible to do a range that covers everything. There was just no standardisation of four wheel Oil Tankers. So, we have done a tank car based on a real wagon, in this case the ex Shell version preserved at the RTM Thirlmere and wear the flack for the multitude of not quite correct models which derive from it. Early sales show that the bulk of our customers are happy with this arrangement. To placate the purists the models will be marketed in the Basix range.
Originally, to give us a much needed break, we were going to sell these wagons at exhibitions only to allow us to take an extended overseas holiday. Unfortunately the best laid plans of mice and men always seem to go astray and our holiday has been postponed until later in the year. So we will take orders for sale by post for those who can’t make it to an exhibition.

Why didn’t we do the Shell version? Well, we tried to get a licence from Shell but to get that you have to apply through their office in Geneva (that’s in Switzerland for the geographically challenged) and Herr whatever his name is doesn’t reply to his emails. Seems that if your name isn’t Ferrari they don’t want to know about you.
Anyway this left the way open for a couple of local decal makers. Kestrel Modelcraft kestrelmc@bigpond.com have decal sheets available for around $8.00. Enough to fit the three wagons in the undec set.
